If nothing else, the Phillies seem to have a taste for the dramatic. Last night the Phils capped off a back and forth series against the Rockies with a ninth-inning comeback and a save from one of the most unreliable closers of 2009. There were only a few fleeting moments where the Phillies seemed to have control of the game or the series. We get a run, they get a run, it was clockwork. The Rockies take the lead after a freak play including Dexter Fowler hurdling Utley and causing an error leading to a three run rally. Then in the top of the ninth, Ryan Howard comes up huge with a 2-run double that one hopped off the right field wall. Howard then scored on a hit from Jay Werth, being the would-be winning run. Cliff Lee was awesome for seven strong and then held it down until the relief came in the eighth and things got hairy. More importantly, Lidge picked up a save! Holy hell. Striking out Tulowitzki with two on and two out, Lidge took care of business and got his man. After that, the only thing left was the bubbly and the beers.
